At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys, and our stage is set to spin around Tony, the attractive young son of the Kirbys, who has fallen in love with Alice Sycamore. Purposely bringing his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening, the hilarious head-on collision of personalities shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question. This famous and funny American classic manages to teach us a little about just how silly the notions of conformity and “being normal” really are!
