W;t reveals the indomitable nature of the human spirit in the character of Vivian Bearing, Ph.D. A renowned professor of English literature, who has spent her life studying and teaching the brilliant sonnets of poet John Donne, Vivian has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. Her approach to her illness is much like her approach to the study of the famous poet: probing, rational, and witty. But as her illness progresses, Vivian comes to reevaluate her life and work with a sensitivity and humor that will ultimately transform her, and all those around her.
